A scheme to boost Hastings' construction sector is now up and running.
Local builders and craftsmen can now sign up to the 'Construction Charter' to show their commitment to best practice and help make the most of training and job opportunities.
The charter was launched at the White Rock Hotel on 22 March, when an audience heard from a guest speaker David Hobson. Started by the Council's Economic Development team, this new scheme allows contractors, developers, clients and suppliers to commit to filling jobs with local people wherever possible and using local suppliers as part of their projects.
A spokesperson for Regeneration said:
"We are working towards a thriving future for our construction industry. By bringing all the important parties together in this project, we will be able to reduce the skills gap in construction in our town."
We are also working on a new website which will provide a whole new way of looking for jobs and finding staff. The Hastings Skills Match site will be launched at the end of June to bring together potential employers and matching specific skills with the right jobs. The website will also give a whole range of information on finding the right job and making the most of your career potential. If you are an employer interested in the Skills Match service, give the Economic Development team a call on 0845 274 1095
