Countdown to fish festival

This September Hastings plays host to its first Seafood and Wine Festival.

The best local produce will be showcased at the festival on 23 and 24 September. Activities will be centred on the Stade, but things will be happening across the whole town. This is your chance to enjoy the Marine Stewardship Council certified produce of Europe’s largest beach-launched fishing fleet.

Here are just some of the things to look forward to:

  • English wines with John Radford . Sample England's best wines with the local wine expert, author and broadcaster.
  • Organic Wine Production with Irma Cook of Sedlescombe Organic Vineyard. Taste the award-winning wines of Britain's first organic vineyard and hear about the special methods used to make them.
  • Learn to taste wine with Alexander Carr-Taylor, a wine expert from renowned local vineyard will be on hand with some top tasting tips.

Besides these main events, there will be a great range of other activities going on, including fish filleting and cooking demos, market stalls selling the best local produce, a wine bar offering a range of quality English wines, a Caribbean fish barbecue and famous fishermen’s rolls will be on sale among many other seafood delights. There will also be a range of sea-themed street entertainment as part of local arts festival Coastal Currents and a range of foody films will be screened at the Old Town’s Electric Palace cinema.

The event on Saturday 23 September will run from 11am to 7pm and from 11am to 5pm on Sunday 24 September. Call Hastings Information Centre for more information.
