From the main road, it may look like there’s not much going on at Hastings Museum and Art Gallery but behind closed doors work on the exciting improvements is well underway.
The museum has been closed since October 2005 for a major makeover, including a two-storey extension, a bigger reception, and two galleries housing exhibitions on the 20th Century history of Hastings. A Native American gallery will be added the first floor to complete the museum’s new look.
Councillor Peter Finch, lead member for Leisure and Cultural Development said:
"It is great to see how well the museum refurbishment is progressing. The new extension is really taking shape and it’s clear that once the works are complete, our museum will be a first class attraction".

The million pound facelift was funded by a Heritage Lottery Fund grant and a contribution from Hastings Borough Council. The Bohemia Road attraction will reopen in spring 2007 when the refit is complete.
