We’ve been busy bringing empty and derelict homes back to life as part of our Empty Homes Strategy.
The home pictured here had been lying empty for some time. Thanks to continued vandalism it had also become something of an eyesore. Mounting repair costs had put the owner off doing it up, but thanks to our Empty Homes Grant and a bit of TLC the building now contains ten housing association self-contained flats.

Stay warm and reduce your bills this winter with an Energy Efficiency Grant. We work closely with organisations such as the Energy Efficiency Advice Centre, the Heat Project and Warm Front to provide grants for home improvements and repairs for things like heating, loft installation and cavity wall insulation.
Living in cold, damp homes can affect people’s health and poor heating is also bad for the environment.

The Hastings Accredited Lettings scheme (HALo) is celebrating, after presenting its 400th certificate.
Run through the Council, HALo exists to give its mark of approval to privately rented homes.
Once landlords have shown that their property meets our high standards, they are allowed to use the HALo mark when marketing their homes.
Potential tenants can be confident that the property they view will be a good quality place to live.
Tim Oliver, of Lynx Properties, was recently presented with his 50th HALo certificate by Councillor Anne Bird, lead member for Housing and Communities.
Cllr Bird said:
"I am delighted to be able to recognize Mr Oliver’s continuing support of HALo and to congratulate him on setting such a good example for other Hastings landlords, who I hope will follow suit and apply to join HALo."
