E-Government - Revolutionise how you do business with the council

Computer mouse

Just a click away!

Have you ever wondered if there’s an easier way to pay your parking fine or an alternative to queuing in the Council Tax office?

There is a way and it couldn’t be simpler. By using our website you’ll find the answers to a whole range of questions and you can carry out a host of transactions too.

On our website you can now view your Council Tax balance, get a benefits estimate, report a missed bin and even submit a planning application. We’ve worked hard to maximise the amount of transactions that take place online, in order to save you as much time and inconvenience as possible. Recent additions to the site include a facility to pay parking fines and a benefits calculator. There’s also a whole range of email request forms, so you can send an email to the relevant department asking for more information or to request a service – you can request a bulky waste collection or ask for a new recycling box for example.

Councillor Joy Waite, lead member for Communications and Organisational Development said:

"We have worked hard to make our website as useful as possible for residents, increasing the number of transactions that take place online, saving residents time and inconvenience. We know our website is already popular, last year there were more than 960,000 hits and more than five million pages of information were read."

Central government has just launched a take-up campaign to encourage more people to ‘connect with their council online’, and we’re ready to meet the promises it makes. The Department for Communities and Local Government (formerly ODPM) encourages residents to go to a central website www.direct.gov.uk/mycouncil where you enter your postcode, select the service you require and you’ll be taken straight to the relevant page of our website.

However you get to our online information, we hope you find it useful. Please send your thoughts and views to comments@hastings.gov.uk
