All change to the Sussex Countycard

Customers queing at hastings Information Centre

Thousands of Hastings and St Leonards residents have been snapping up a fantastic bus offer.

Since the beginning of April, Hastings Information Centre staff have been inundated with applications for free bus travel, replacing the old half fare scheme.

For several days queues snaked around the Town Hall, while patient bus users waited for their Sussex Countycards.

The pass means that anyone over 60, or disabled, can travel across Sussex for free.

Councillor John Wilson, lead member for Environment and Safety, said:

"We hope everyone who is eligible has taken advantage of this scheme and is making full use of bus services across the county. We’ve just undertaken a review of our services in the town and we have been encouraged by the results."

We are making improvements by working with our partners Stagecoach and East Sussex County Council, but we are confident that our services will go from strength to strength.

Residents have until 17 July to change their old pass for a new one, which will be sent out in August.
