From 6 March until 25 March, The White Rock Theatre is hosting the prestigious Hastings Musical Festival.
This event, which is affiliated to the British and International Federation of Festivals for Music, Dance and Speech, showcases the best of the area's talent in multiple catagories and climaxes with the Piano Concerto Class, a competition of international standing with entries from around the world.
Started in 1907, Hastings Musical Festival (HMF) is a charitable organisation whose aim is to provide a platform for amateur performace in music, drama and dance for both children and adults, combined with an educational element gained from the input of professional adjudicators adnd performers.
The Marketing Manager for the theatre said:
"Last year, grants of nearly £5,000 were awarded from The HMF, with even more applications coming through this year. I urge the people from Hastings and the surrounding areas to come along and see the talent that is on show during the festival."
Birmingham Stage Company, who brought you Tom's Midnight Garden and Georges Marvellous Medicine returns to the White Rock Theatre to take you on a fantastic family adventure!
Kensuke's Kingdom tells the story of Michael, a young boy whose life takes a dramatic turn when he embarks upon a trip around the world with his parents. Disaster strikes when their boat is hit by a terrifying storm and Michael finds himself washed up on a mysterious Pacific Island. As he begins his fight for survival, our hero soon realises he is not alone - and this is Kensuke's Kingdom.
Based upon the award-winning book by Children's Laureate Michael Morpurgo, Kensuke's Kingdom is a wonderfully enchanting play for children that is sure to delight young imaginations.

World famous movie star and novelist Joan Collins will stop off at the White Rock Theatre for one night only. Join her as she talks about her life and career, including the Dynasty years, film and acting roles, family - all the fun parts of her life. The evening will close with a question and answer session.
4 Poofs And A Piano are known for their regular guest appearances on the BBC TV show Friday Night with Jonathan Ross but you can see them live on the 6th May at The White Rock Theatre.
The White Rock Stage Experience is a two-week musical theatre summer school for nine to 25 year olds. During the two weeks participants learn all their songs, dances and lines from a professional director, musical director, choreographer and backstage crew - and then perform on the main stage to audiences of more than 5000.
Last years Barnum was a phenomenal success, with more than 130 young people taking up parts as singers, dancers, actors, lighting operators, sound technicians, props makers and stage crew. The EAZ, Hastings Borough Council, local businesses, Elton John, Davina McCall and Ewan McGregor have pledged their support of the project. Our theatre staff scooped a national award in 2004 for 'Team of the Year' for efficient organisation and management of the scheme.
