Were you part of the Mods and Rockers scene in the early 60s? Staff at the Hastings Museum and Art Gallery (HMAG), are looking for authentic gear for an exhibition. The museum already has a small stock of exhibits including some original Mod shoes, but is looking for an authentic Lambretta, original Parka and leather jackets, records, posters and film footage to either buy or borrow.
The display will focus on the 1964 riots that took place in Brighton and spilled over into Hastings.
Councillor Jay Kramer, portfolio holder for leisure and culture, said:
"HMAG is currently undergoing major refurbishment and renovation. It will mean the museum has an impressive face-lift and by the time work is completed, we will have a two-storey extension and much improved access for wheelchair users.
"If you have any items you can loan to the museum, please give our new display manager a call and share some of your memories with visitors to HMAG."
If you can help the Museum please telephone 01424 451152.

Improvement and extension works at Hastings Museum and Art Gallery are steaming ahead as Councillor Jay Kramer was shown on a recent visit. The museum will be closed for the rest of the year for the £1million refurbishment, which involves building a two-storey extension, enlarging the reception and café area and improving accessibility for wheelchair users.
Cllr Kramer, portfolio holder for Leisure and Culture said:
"It's great to see the works at HMAG progressing. The museum is one of the town's most popular attractions and it fully deserves this update. Along with the Heritage Lottery Fund, we are pleased to have been able to fund this exciting project.
"I am sure that once the works are complete and HMAG is open to the public, its fascinating exhibits will be displayed at their best. We ask the public to bear with us during the closure, they should be reassured that the wait will be worthwhile".
The new gallery space will house exhibitions on the 20th century history of Hastings and Native American artefacts. A lift will be installed and doorways widened to make the museum accessible for all. Temperature control and special lighting will also be installed to take care of the valuable exhibits.
While HMAG is closed the Old Town Hall Museum will be open as usual.
