It Could Be You!

The word Recycling made from torn out letters

Local boys Keane were on hand to launch the latest recycling initiative after a sell-out show at the Hastings Beer Festival in June.

The group helped launched the Council's Recycling Lotto challenge, where households can win a minimum of £20 in Argos vouchers in a Lotto-style lucky dip.

Each week a name and address is generated at random and the waste and recycling team pays a visit to the household on collection day.  If rubbish is all separated out ready for recycling the vouchers are theirs.

If, however, the rubbish is not ready then the vouchers roll over, ready for the following week. Councillor Godfrey Daniel, portfolio holder for the Environment, said:

"This scheme is a great incentive to get recycling.  It just takes a bit of time to get used to but I'm sure will become second nature.  We are now able to recycle paper, cardboard, plastic bottles and cans and have even more points for recycling glass."

Glass recycling points can be found across the town at the major supermarket sites.  Most recently Lidl, in Bohemia Road, joined the green campaign, providing recycling facilities as part of planning permission conditions.
