Young learners were rewarded for their achievements earlier this year at a special ceremony at the White Rock Theatre.
Certificates of Achievement were presented to learners who had successfully completed training projects, run through the Council's Tressell Training, by deputy leader, councillor Jay Kramer. The projects allow learners to experience a variety of vocational options as an alternative to a full-time school timetable. The activities and qualifications are diverse, ranging from DJ workshops, through to sports activities and life skills, to a film project with the Electric Palace cinema.
Learners from secondary schools and Hastings College joined mayor, councillor Pam Brown and the director of the Excellence Cluster (formerly the Education Action Zone) Philip Halstead at the event.
Cllr Kramer said:
"I would like to congratulate all these young achievers who have participated in these projects, some of whom have also sat their GCSEs at the same time. Those leaving school this year will have continued support from Tressell trainers in attaining further goals, whether going to college, into employment or staying with Tressell for further training and qualifications. Tressell will also continue to work with younger learners, enabling them to experience the wide range of challenging courses and activities on offer."
