As always our play events were phenomenally successful this summer with thousands of children taking part in activities.
The first Play in the Park took place in early August in picturesque Alexandra Park. It coincided with the 18th National Playday scheme and attracted hundreds of youngsters, mums and dads. This success was repeated throughout August and staff from the Council and the Hastings and St Leonards Play Forum, recorded more than 4,000 children each week.
Another successful day was Play On the Beach on Thursday, July 14. The seafront was transformed into a world of play and fun as crowds of youngsters gathered on the beach opposite Pelham Place. More than 3,500 children from schools, nurseries and playgroups got stuck into crafts, dressing up and games.
Councillor Jay Kramer, portfolio holder for Leisure, said:
"The figures really speak for themselves. These activities are just what the park and beach were made for. The children and young people had a great time learning and playing and all credit should go to our staff and members of the play forum for organising such a popular and well-run event."
