Unsung Heroes

While thousands of schoolchildren looked forward to the start of the summer holidays, the hard work was just beginning for the staff of Hastings Borough Council's Play Development Team.  Providing a summer programme of fun and play took meticulous planning and dedication.  Laura Beerling, Julie Sutton, the Hastings and St Leonards Play Forum and an army of helpers, made sure activities were on offer right through the summer break for children and young people.
Play on the Beach and Play in the Park attracted thousands of children and preparations started long in advance, with appeals to family, friends and colleagues for scraps and material, ready to be transformed into collages, costumes and all manner of creative objects.

Plans are are already underway for next year and various activities are still to come before 2005 draws to a close.

Year-round sports events and play activities are on offer for young people - call our leisure department on 0845 274 1050 for further details.
