Tressell Training is back with a new logo, a new slogan and a fresh determination to help young people.
The group, part of Hastings Borough Council, provides training and learning opportunities for young people who, for one reason or another, look unlikely to complete a traditional school timetable.
Courses on offer include painting, decorating, gardening, motor mechanics and IT. Many focus on employability and vocational skills. Post-16 learner Rep, Dizzy Robinson, summed up her experience of working with Tressell and her thoughts on the new logo.
She said:
"The new logo explains exactly what Tressell Training does. Tressell inspires us to do things that we have not done before."
Last year the group did some market research to try and gauge what the public knew about Tressell and its work. Some interesting opinions emerged; those who worked with the group had nothing but positive comments, but from the public’s point of view, very few people had heard of them.
Tressell needed a makeover and an identity all of its own. In stepped the Council’s graphic design team, who came up with the new logo. The slogan - Inspiring Young People - was dreamt up by learners.
Council leader Jeremy Birch said:
"This strap-line or slogan precisely sums up the values at the heart of Tressell Training. Too often young people struggle at school but the Tressell staff offer alternatives to dropping out altogether and there are many, many success stories, with young people going into jobs they enjoy or returning to education. The new image will help promote the work of Tressell in the town and to the public at large."
