Summerfields Woods and ponds came alive with people at a celebration last month.
Around 100 guests were led to the site by costumed characters from the Radiator Arts group and were serenaded by singer Dessie Stefanov and musician Trevor Watts.
The event was staged to show the work carried out on the ponds and woodland and draw attention to the amazing sculptures by local artists Joc Hare and Leigh Dyer.
The restoration was run in partnership with the Hastings Greenway Project, Hastings Greenspace Project and Hastings Borough Council.
Money to carry out the work, which included de-silting the ponds, came from a variety of sources, including the Council’s Smarten Up fund.
Councillor Jay Kramer, portfolio holder for Leisure and Culture, said:
"Summerfields Woods is the fifth Local Nature Reserve to be declared by the Council and the one that is closest to the centre of town. The woods are an important home for wildlife and boast one of the largest resident badger populations of any woodland in the Borough. The woods are also an important food source for migrating birds. This is the first natural area to have such an extensive art project associated with it, which complements the natural impact of the woods. They have great potential for educational use, and provide a wonderful asset to life in Hastings."
