Development agencies were set up in 1999 in eight English regions and London to promote economic growth and regeneration. RDAs have progressively gained more funding and freedom from central government. Hastings and St Leonards is covered by South East England Development Agency - SEEDA.
A regeneration funder usually does not pay 100% of the of the project cost. Projects are usually expected to find other sources of funding to make up the difference. The other sources are known collectively as match funding.
A range of practices dedicated to increasing the strength and effectiveness of community life, improving local conditions, especially for people in disadvantaged situations as well as enabling people to participate in public decision-making and achieve greater long-term control over their circumstance.
Hastings Regeneration Partnership brings together the voluntary, public and private sectors to spend £26 million Single Regeneration Budget money provided through South East England Development Agency. With matched funding, the 100 local projects pull in a total of £128 million for social, economic and physical regeneration.
The Partnership can be contacted by telephone on 01424 781781.
