Goodbye Old Town Week, Hello Hastings Week

The party never seems to stop in Hastings, as barely has Old Town Carnival Week in August finished than preparations are being finalised for Hastings Week in October.

Carnival

Although some feel that the Carnival itself has lost a bit of its sparkle, there's no doubt at all that Old Town Carnival Week was as popular as ever.  There were record numbers for the Pram Race, and the new 'Sea Boot Race' was a great success.  With numerous coffee mornings, ploughman's lunches, cream teas, various types of pub crawl masquerading as different events, the Street Party, and some of the best weather the town has ever enjoyed, it's no wonder that the town's holiday accommodation was booked up throughout the week.

Hastings Week - 11th-19th October - promised to be better than ever, with, again, a mixture of "old favourite" events and some new ones.  Thanks must go to Dorothy Clements, Chair of the Hastings Week Committee, and her colleagues on the committee for all that they do to make the week such a success.  The Town Criers Championship on 11th October and the torchlight procession, bonfire and fireworks the same night, were the highlight for many, whilst others enjoy the numerous community events.

The Hobbies and Craft Fair at the Phoenix Arts Centre (18th/19th October) is fast becoming established as a 'must visit' while the Classic Car event, on the Stade Coach Park on 18th/19th October, promises to be a crowd puller too.
