Foil Car Tax Thieves

Tax Disc Holder

A new scheme to foil car tax thieves is being introduced by the car crime reduction team.  A disc holder which sticks to the windscreen and cannot be peeled from the tax disc is being offered to motorists free of charge at the Post Offices in London and Cambridge Road, Parking Services Shop at Menzies Road and Hastings Information Centre.

Councillor Trevor Webb, Cabinet Member responsible for Community Safety, said: "There has been a small increase in the number of tax disc thefts recently and so, as part of the drive to keep car crime down, we've teamed up with our community safety partners, to offer these tamper proof discs free of charge.
"Car crime is falling in the town and there has been a 29.7% fall compared with the same time last year.  Our car parks are even safer and the car crime reduction team are working hard to remind motorists to leave nothing on display to prevent theft from cars.
"This new tamper proof disc is a great idea - not only does it offer the warning to would-be thieves, it sticks to the windscreen a lot more effectively than normal plastic holders!"
