BT has apologised to Hastings Borough Council, and offered compensation, following two serious errors in the latest edition of 'The Phone Book'.
In the main body of the directory, the Council is listed as 'Hastings & St. Leonards Borough Council', which it has never been known as, while in the useful numbers section, the Box Office of the White Rock Theatre is given, not the main switchboard.
Councillor Peter Chowney, Cabinet Member responsible for Communications, said:
"I'm pleased that BT have now accepted they were wrong. It was ridiculous for two separate, major, errors to be included in The Phone Book, and unbelievable when they then refused to do anything about it. We have received many complaints from local residents, and had intended to publicise the correct numbers ourselves."
