Sky’s the Limit

Thanks to the Hastings Regeneration Partnership stepping-in with its cheque book, 70 women are set to graduate this year from the Sky’s the Limit courses in Personal Development, Job/Career Finding, Working with Others, Assertiveness & Conflict Management and IT for Beginners.

At the graduation ceremony at the end of last year, Sky’s the Limit leader Tricia Owen said, ‘This term’s graduation is particularly significant. One of our main funding sources expired earlier this year and without funding now provided through the Hastings Regeneration Partnership, these life-skilling courses would simply have had to close.

Christine Goldschmidt, chair of the Hastings Regeneration Partnership said,

"The Partnership has pledged to fund the programme until 2007. This will mean that 300 women will be given the chance, the skills and the confidence they need to see that they can work, even if they have childcare responsibilities. This project gives women freedom from the home. It opens their lives. The Partnership is particularly excited because Sure Start has also agreed to fund a new flexible full day care nursery. This extra funding will double the numbers of places in the crèche and will mean that Sky’s the Limit graduates will be able to continue using the nursery once they have found work or continue their studies elsewhere. This is a fantastic example of partnership in action."

Sky’s the Limit courses are designed to give women the tools they will need to be able to find work. The links are in place for the students and graduates to tap into further education and career advice.
