Race for Life - Cancer Research

Race for Life - Cancer Research

Alexandra Park is the venue for one of Cancer Research UK’s 130 Race For Life events, this Summer.

Now in its 10th year, Race for Life is hoping to attract more than 300,000 women to its 5km fundraising walks/runs across the country. Around 1,000 women are expected to take part in the Hastings race on Sunday 29th June.

Every year, over 130,000 women are diagnosed with cancer, one in three people will get cancer at some point in their lifetime and one in four will die from it . Since it began, Race for Life has raised over £35 million which is spent on researching cancer cures and preventions. This year, organisers hope to beat all previous years and raise £17.5million.

Women of all ages and fitness levels take part in the race, and the focus is not on the time taken to complete the course, but on the experience of getting together with other women to raise funds for vital research into cancer.
