| Council elections are changing and will now be carried out every two years. Because the recent local elections were for the whole town, half of the current councillors will stand down in 2004 and half in 2006. Those standing down first (in 2004) will be those with the lowest votes in their wards. All councillors will be able to stand for the Council again if they so wish.
