It's full beam ahead for Hastings & St Leonards as lighting up landmark buildings, areas and implementing individual schemes gathers momentum as part of the plan to make the town lighten up!
The decorative lighting strategy has led to a lighter, brighter town, with some of the town's interesting and individual buildings now illuminated using a combination of lighting inside and out to highlight spectacular features ranging from stained glass windows to sections of a cliff.
So far, the net shops, the cliff behind St Mary in the Castle, Queen Victoria, Trinity Church, the United Reform Church, the Brassey Institute, the America Ground Mural, the East Hill lift building and the cliffs either side, Marine Court Colonnade and Marine Court have been lit up. Other lighting schemes include Winds of Change in Pelham Place car park and Stream lighting at Marina.
Councillor Mike Bigg, Cabinet Member responsible for Regeneration & Tourism, said:
"The impact of these lighting schemes is incredible - they really do bring out some of the unique features of our heritage and make the town feel vibrant and bright."
"We are going to consult residents about lighting schemes in West Marina Gardens and Warrior Square and look forward to hearing their comments."

Many of the schemes have been installed by local business Hannington & Gilbert and designed by Sutton Vane Associates and also by Alfa Electric. For more information about decorative lighting in the town, please contact Projects Officer, Celia Edwards on 783310 or email cedwards@hastings.gov.uk
