About magazine has been nominated runner-up in the prestigious Northcliffe Newspapers Press Awards for its striking design.
The award was presented at a ceremony in Leicester and judges were impressed with the layout, design, good use of illustrations and pictures and how easy it is to read.
The awards were open to all public sector magazines regardless of whether they were designed in-house or by an external agency.
About magazine is designed and written entirely in-house.
Cllr Peter Chowney, the Council's cabinet member with responsibility for communications, said:
"About magazine is a high quality, entertaining and informative publication, widely read and enjoyed by all those who receive it. Getting this award shows that's not just our opinion, but the opinion of other publishing professionals. It's a testament to the hard work, skill and imagination of our staff, and shows that Hastings Council can develop top-quality services 'in house', without using outside contractors."
