


The 'Get With It' programme of sports, art and play which took place this summer, has been boosted by a further £10,000.
The cash was awarded by the Police Authority to support the activities that have been running over the last six months in Castle, Gensing, Central St Leonards, Broomgrove and Hollington wards.
The activities and support were made possible by a partnership between Hastings Council, the NSPCC, East Sussex County Council and Hastings & Bexhill Youth Service.
At Horntye during half term, local young people from Robsack, Hollington, Gensing, Old Town, Broomgrove and Farley Bank entered their own teams into a 5-a-side Football Tournament at Horntye. The players involved, have been participating in regular football coaching sessions organised through the Positive Futures and Neighbourhood Renewal Schemes in these areas.
70 young people played in 3 separate categories. Robsack Girls won the girls competition with Robsack boys winning the under 13s and the SMART Youth Club Boys taking the under 16s win.
The programmes are managed by Hastings Borough Council Sports Development, NSPCC and Hastings and Bexhill Youth Service.

Young people in Hastings & St Leonards will benefit from a lottery grant which will be used to deliver more sporting opportunities over the next 5 years.
Hastings Council is one of 13 local authorities in Sussex to benefit from a Sport Lottery Grant awarded to Sussex Sport Partnership. The programme, Active Sports, will involve 11 different sports over the next 5 years.

"The award to Sussex has totalled £2 million and we will be using our part of the grant to continue improving the sporting opportunities for young people in Hastings & St Leonards."

Over 250 young people and 1,000 runners took place in this year's 10k road race.
The event is becoming one of the most popular sporting events in the country and is supported by Hastings Borough Council, other local businesses and is organised by Hastings Runners.
