Council Officers and Police were given a demonstration of mobile CCTV which has been successfully used in Thanet to cut down on crime.
A transit style van carries three digital cameras which are monitored on screens inside the vehicle.
The Council is hoping that money will be allocated from the Neighbourhood Renewal funds to purchase a mobile camera unit, similar to the one that was on view, which will be used to prevent anti-social behaviour and crime in the town.
Councillor Trevor Webb, Cabinet Member responsible for Community Safety, said:
"This unit is excellent and will undoubtedly have a marked effect on crime because you can take it to the troublespots."
"The police, street wardens and community wardens will all have access to the unit and I hope that, like Thanet, its use will result in a drop in anti-social behaviour and crime. We hope that we will have the vehicle by early summer."
