Local arts group Dab are working with local schools and playgroups to make windsocks and flags to go on display along the seafront in the summer.
Last year, Dab worked on a similar project to make banners, but this summer the aim will be to make things to fly with the wind.
The flags and windsocks will be put up for the Shorething festival of the sea in July. There will also be workshops in Alexandra Park during August to make even more. They will be on display in the Park every Wednesday during August.
The windsocks and flags are made of nylon, similar to the fabric that kites and sails are made of and the designs will be based on fish and faces.
Councillor John Humphries, Cabinet Member responsible for Community Participation, said:
Last year’s banners project was really successful and it was great to see them flying along the seafront. Community play and art is something which we are keen to encourage and I hope that local people will get involved in the project in Alexandra Park during the summer.
