A woman has been fined a massive £1,000 for allowing her dogs to foul in a public area and not cleaning up afterwards.
The Woman was prosecuted by the Council in June this year. One of the Council’s Dog Wardens observed The Woman's two bull terrier type dogs. She released them off the lead and both dogs immediately defecated. When approached by the Dog Warden and cautioned for the offence Ms Watts threatened to set her dog on the Dog Warden. One of the dogs was acting aggressively towards the Warden.
Councillor Trevor Webb, Cabinet Member responsible for Community Safety & Quality of Life, said:
Dog owners must by now be aware that if they fail to clean up after their pet they could get a £1000 fine. Residents in the town have said that they want something done about dog fouling - and we are actively taking steps to address the problem.
I cannot understand why people would chance a £1,000 fine, rather than clean up after their pet like the majority of responsible owners do. I hope this will be a lesson to those who think that they can get away with it.
