Welcome to our latest edition of About. Everyone I speak to says how readable and lively About is. It tells you things that you often don’t get the chance to read anywhere else. All that and delivered to your door at no charge to you.
About is so well received because it deliberately concentrates on the very many positive things happening in our town. Frequently I get asked by Hastings people why do we only hear about the bad news when everyone knows how many good things are going on all around us. I hope that About helps to paint the true picture of the Borough.
This has been a particularly busy time for the Council – working out its plans for the next year and agreeing a budget that can pay for them all. We have tried to listen to local people to find out what your priorities are. Of course not everyone will be happy but then we could never think up a budget where we could pay for all the things that we would love to do.
This edition of About mentions some of the things we will be doing that have received really widespread support. The experiment of introducing neighbourhood wardens into the wider Hollington area has been really welcomed by local residents. The new decorative lighting scheme for the seafront and the continuing hard line on derelict buildings has been talked about far and wide.
The most significant new scheme is the introduction for the first time ever in Hastings of doorstep recycling which I know has the full backing of Councillors and you the public.
This addition of About deals with these issues and many more. I hope you find it as interesting as usual and remember don’t throw it away, recycle it.
